About the Bison
- Bucknell kicks off its 2024 spring schedule on Sunday on the East Coast of Florida. The Bison are one of 14 teams in a competitive field at the Advance Golf Partners Collegiate at Hammock Creek GC.
- The Bison will play in five spring tournaments leading up to the 2024 Patriot League Championship, which will be held at the Bucknell Golf Club on Apr. 19-21.
- Head coach Laura Tyler-Cook will send out sophomore Paige Richter, freshmen Sofia Nogalo, Lila Smith, and Nicole Yun, and senior Cristina Canales. Senior Kayla Yi will play as an individual.
- The Bison finished in the top five in the team standings in all five of its fall tournaments. Their 307.7 scoring average established a new school record. The previous low mark for a fall season was 310.1 in 2018.
- Richter (76.0) and Nogalo (76.8) led the team in scoring average during the fall season. Richter turned in two top-10 finishes, including a T-7th at the Lehigh Invitational to finish out the fall. Nogalo fired a 2-under 70 at the Roseann Schwartz Invitational, hosted by Youngstown State. She finished in a tie for first place in that event, settling for the runner-up medal on tiebreaker criteria. Â Â
- Yun (78.2) and Smith (79.3) also logged sub-80 averages in their rookie seasons. Smith's 68 in the second round of her career was a school record.
- Next up for the Bison is a trip to the SMSU Spring Classic at the Wigwam Resort in Litchfield, Ariz. Bucknell finished third in this event last season.
