LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell senior Graeme Carroll earned Patriot League Pitcher of the Week honors on Tuesday after turning in two outstanding relief efforts to help the Bison win three out of four games from Massachusetts over the weekend.
Carroll recorded saves in both of his appearances in the series, and he did not allow a hit while striking out five and walking only one in five innings.
In Saturday's 7-4 win over the Minutemen, Carroll inherited a first-and-third, no-out jam in the top of the seventh (and final) inning. He proceeded to record a strikeout, a short fly ball, and another strikeout to end the game and notch his second career save and first since 2022 against Duke.
The following day, Carroll pitched the final four innings without yielding a hit in Bucknell's 8-4 victory. After the Bison allowed four runs in the first inning, Mikey Myro and Carroll covered the final 6 2/3 and kept UMass to just those four runs. Myro, a sophomore, was credited with his first career win, while Carroll picked up save No. 2.
Bucknell is now 4-3 on the season and will next play three games against Saint Joseph's this weekend. The Bison and Hawks will play a doubleheader at Depew Field starting at noon on Saturday, and then the two teams will meet in Philadelphia for a single game at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
