LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell freshman Peter Grandolfo was named Patriot League Men's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week on Monday following his three-goal performance against Harvard over the weekend. Two of Grandolfo's goals came in the first five minutes of the opening quarter, helping the Bison build an early 8-1 lead over the nationally-ranked Crimson.
Grandolfo now has two hat tricks in his first four collegiate games. He's third on the Bucknell roster in goals (7) and is tied for third in total points (8).
Grandolfo's first two goals against Harvard were scored less than three minutes apart and gave the Bison a 2-0 lead four minutes into the contest. He scored his third goal 11 minutes into the second half to give Bucknell a 10-5 lead. His three goals came on nine shots, including six that were on target.
A native of Fairfield, Conn., Grandolfo was playing less than 15 minutes from where he grew up and attended high school on Saturday, as Bucknell and Harvard met at a neutral-site game at Staples High School in West Port, Conn.
Grandolfo's first hat trick came in the season opener at Merrimack, where he also added an assist to tally four points. He added another goal and three caused turnovers in his second game at Marist.
Bucknell returns to Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium on Saturday, March 2 to host Holy Cross in the first Patriot League game of the season.
