Kemp Wins Patriot League Rookie of the Week

LEWISBURG, Pa.- The Patriot League conference office named Bucknell Track & Field's Bernard Kemp Rookie of the Week on Tuesday for his performance in the long jump at the Spire Collegiate Games. It was a headlining accomplishment for Kemp and the Bison. Kemp is the first Bison to obtain the Men's Rookie of the Week designation in 2023-24.

Kemp's milestone jump of 23-8 1/4 won the event but unlocked a spot in Bucknell history. Kemp's attempt now ranks him ninth in Bucknell history. It was Kemp's first collegiate victory. The freshman jumper has lurked near the top ten during the indoor season. On Saturday, he finally obtained the coveted position. His jump ranks third in the PL.

The Bison and Kemp have one final meet before the Patriot League Indoor Championships. The Orange & Blue host the Bucknell Tune-Up on Feb. 16 at Gerhard Fieldhouse.
