LEWISBURG, Pa.- Ashley Sofilkanich headlined in the Bucknell women's basketball win over the Boston Terriers on Saturday and won Bison of the Week for the week ending in 2/12. It is Sofilkanich's first time winning the award. Teammate Emma Theodorsson won the award earlier this season.
"We are all proud of the work she's doing and the mentality she brings to the gym," said head coach Trevor Woodruff. "Our team's improvement is a directed reflection of her and her teammates' continued growth."
Sofilkanich was a force inside the paint, collecting 21 points to lead all scorers. The freshman forward was mechanically efficient in her shooting, going 9-of-14 from the field and 3-of-3 from the charity stripe. Sofilkanich now has four 20+ point games and has scored in double-digits in the last seven out of nine games. The New Jersey native averages 12.1 ppg overall and 13.0 ppg in Patriot League play.Â
It was Bucknell's first win at Boston since the 2018-19 season, and it improved Bucknell's winning streak to three games, currently the longest run in the Patriot League. The Bison are now 5-6 in the league. The win gave Bucknell the season sweep over the Terriers.Â
Bucknell returns to action on Valentine's Day with a midweek meeting at Lehigh.Â
