Ashley Sofilkanich scored 21 points on 9-of-17 shooting and collected two rebounds. Grace Sullivan added 17 points to give Bucknell the decided advantage in the paint. While Emma Theodorsson did not equal her 31-point output in the first meeting against the Terriers, the sophomore did score 12 points and gather nine rebounds. Isabella King celebrated her birthday in style, notching ten points, including back-to-back three-pointers during a 19-0 run in the decisive third quarter. Blake Matthews only tallied four points but recorded eight assists with zero turnovers as she expertly directed the offense.Â
Both teams took 53 shots. Bucknell hit 27 of its chances, while Boston University made 24. Both squads also shot 40% from three-point land. Boston University went 10-of-25, and Bucknell was 4-of-10. The Bison had a game-breaking advantage at the free throw line, going 13-of-14 to Boston's 2-of-4.Â
"Our collective defense was much better in the second half," said head coach Trevor Woodruff. "That allowed us to get out in transition on offense. Boston is a difficult place to play, so we are excited to get home with the win."
Boston University powered out to an 8-2 lead, prompting Coach Woodruff to call timeout. While the strategic maneuver did not instantly result in a flipped score, Boston's momentum was blunted, and the Bison began slowly inching closer and closer. An understated basket came from King with 1:23 left. The shot clock was slipping away, and King was covered, but she managed to shoot and score to tie the game at 13-13. Boston converted one free throw to lead 14-13 at the quarter's close.

The Terriers increased their lead to 17-13 before Bucknell used a 5-0 run to take its first lead. The teams traded the lead multiple times before Boston University had the 25-22 advantage. The Bison sneaked to within 29-28 and seemed poised to take the lead before the Terriers used a 39-30 run to establish breathing space. The Orange & Blue scored two crucial baskets to make it 39-34 at halftime. The final four points set the second-half tone.
The third quarter was all Bucknell. The Terriers went up 44-40 before the Orange & Blue avalanche rolled past the Charles River into Case Gym. The 19-0 run was a basketball sonnet. The stanza began with a Theodorsson basket. Sofilkanich followed with the traditional three-point play and the 45-44 lead. Matthews found a racing Sullivan and fired the pass down the court. Sullivan converted the lay-up and was fouled. Boston called a timeout but Sullivan still knocked down the free throw.Â

Sofilkanich contributed another basket. Matthews shined again, swiping the ball, maneuvering up the court, waited, and found a wide-open Theodorsson. The Icelandic national player drained the trey. The possession forced another Boston timeout.Â

Boston University broke the run with a Caitlin Weimar lay-up. Bucknell was undaunted, scoring 18 seconds later on a Sofilkanich lay-up. The quarter concluded with Bucknell up 61-46.Â
The Terriers did not go quietly into the cold night. Boston University ripped off an 8-2 run to make it 63-56 with 6:27 left. The Bison defense clamped down on the Terriers, and two minutes later, Sofilkanich tallied the bucket. The Terriers responded, but the Bison's answer was better. A 6-0 Orange & Blue run, including a Sofilkanich circus shot, sealed the win. Boston added one last basket before the clock ran out.
