LEWISBURG, Pa.- The Bucknell women's cross country program prides itself on excellence on and off the running trails. Senior Sarah Policano emphasized this dedication by receiving a spot on the Patriot League's annual Academic All-League team. Her honor marks the third-straight year a Bison women runner had received a spot on the team. Mia Bellucci and Keeley Misutka brought home the laurels in 2022 and 2023 respectively.Â
"Sarah has come a long ways as a cross country runner," said head coach Kevin Donner. "Her first 2.5 years were filled with injuries and interruptions with her training but she has been healthy for almost a year now and we are seeing the results. I project a fantastic track season this year."
Policano served one of three captains this season and performed admirably in the role maintaining constant leadership while racing hard and pulling down a 3.91 GPA as a Psychology major. She expertly balanced the commitment between student-athlete and athlete.Â
The senior runner posted three top-25 finishes this year. Her finest placement (sixth) occurred at the Lafayette Invitational. She raced to 22nd at the prestigious and historic ECAC/IC4A Championships. At the 2024 Patriot League Championships, her 24th place finish assisted Bucknell in grabbing fourth overall.Â
Policano and the Bison will race on Nov. 15 at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals.Â
