ROME, Ga. – After a busy but unbeaten day on Thursday, Bucknell's run at the IT Conference Masters Championships ended at the hands of a pair of No. 1 seeds on Friday.
Amar Tahirovic won twice in singles on day one to reach the quarterfinals, putting him one win shy of an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships. But on Friday he ran into All-American Sebastian Dominko of Notre Dame, and the Slovenian Davis Cup team member prevailed 6-3, 6-2.
Tahirovic and Brendan McDonald won their first-round match in straight sets against a team from Weber State before falling 6-2, 6-2 to reigning NCAA quarterfinalists Petar Jovanovic and Benito Sanchez Martinez of Mississippi State.
The full Bison squad will now be in action on Saturday and Sunday at the Navy Invitational in Annapolis.
