LEWISBURG, Pa. – Junior center Noah Williamson earned one of the five spots on the Preseason All-Patriot League Men's Basketball Team on Thursday, and the Bison were picked fourth in the preseason poll of head coaches and sports information directors.
Bucknell garnered 115 points in the poll, just five behind third-place Boston University. Colgate was tabbed as the preseason favorite, chalking up 14 of the 20 first-place votes and 156 points. American received four first-place votes and 144 points, and Boston University grabbed the final two first-place nods. Lehigh (103), Lafayette (77), Army West Point (64), Navy (61), Holy Cross (40), and Loyola (20) rounded out the poll.
Williamson returns after a breakout sophomore campaign. The 7'0" pivot from Latvia earned Third Team All-Patriot League honors in 2023-24 after averaging 12.3 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 0.9 blocks per game. He ranked fourth in the Patriot League in rebounding and eighth in both scoring and blocks.
Williamson had six 20-point games, 19 double-figure scoring games, and four double-doubles. He logged a career-high 28 points in a home win over Loyola, finishing 10-for-15 from the field and 3-for-5 from 3-point range, and in the Patriot League Tournament he tallied 23 points and 10 rebounds in a quarterfinal win over American and 19 points and eight boards in a two-point semifinal loss at Colgate.
Joining Williamson on the Preseason All-Patriot League Team are Boston University's Miles Brewster, Lehigh's Tyler Whitney-Sidney, Navy's Austin Benigni, and American's Matt Rogers, who was the pick for Preseason Player of the Year. Holy Cross forward Caleb Kenney was named Preseason Defensive Player of the Year.
Bucknell will play an exhibition game open to the public at Saint Joseph's on Saturday, Oct. 26, and then the Bison tip off their 130th season on Monday, Nov. 4 at Delaware.
