LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell men's golf team braved cool, windy conditions and the occasional rain squall in the second round of the Bucknell Invitational on Monday, but the Bison still managed a solid 297 team score and moved up two spots into a tie for fifth place with one more round still to come.
Sophomore Hayden Quinn carded a 1-over-par 71, one of the top scores in the field in the tough scoring conditions, and Quinn moved into a fie for fifth place individually, just three shots off the lead. Quinn birdied two of the three par-5s (9 and 15) and was even on the day until a finishing bogey at 18. Freshman Jack Hartman continued his fine play with a 73, junior James Key shot 75, and freshman Patrick Pritsios posted a 78.
Indies Jake Maddaloni and James Robbins both shot 76.
St. John's and Youngstown State both led the 18-team field with 291 team scores on Monday, and they are now tied for the lead at 13-over 573. First-round leader Colgate dropped to third, three shots off the pace, and Holy Cross (577), Bucknell (581), and Le Moyne (581) round out the top five.
Monmouth's Patrick Scenna backed up his opening-round 69 with a 68, and he has the individual lead at 3-under through 36 holes. Owen Corby of Le Moyne is one stroke back, and Cornell's Jackson Debusschere and Wagner's Thomas Choi are both two behind at 1-under. Quinn is one of four players tied for fifth place at even par.
The tournament concludes on Tuesday, with tee times starting at 9 a.m.
