LEWISBURG, Pa.- Sophomore Emma Theodorsson won Patriot League PenFed Credit Union Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday. Theodorsson dominated the opposition, scoring 41 points in the two wins over Boston and Lafayette. It is Theodorsson's first Player of the Week honor. She won Rookie of the Week twice in 2022-23.Â
"She is deserving of the honor," said head coach Trevor Woodruff. "She led our team to two wins and contributed in multiple ways. She is working hard and improving daily."
The sophomore was devastatingly efficient in the 61-52 victory over Boston. Theo scored 31 points, more than half of Bucknell's output, on 10-of-18 shooting from the field, including 3-of-5 from three-point land, and went 8-of-10 from the free throw line. Her efforts reached beyond scoring. She grabbed six rebounds, drew seven fouls, and supplied three assists. Theo scored seven of Bucknell's 18 points in the decisive final quarter.Â
Against Lafayette, Theodorsson played a pivotal role in Bucknell's 65-58 triumph. She tallied 10 points, one of four Bison in double-figures, on 4-of-10 shooting, and extended her double-digit scoring streak to nine games. Theo was brilliant against the Leopards, collecting four rebounds and setting a career-high in assists (5).Â
Theodorsson and the Bison look to extend their winning streak to three games when they play at Navy on Jan. 24. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.Â
