
Men's Swim & Dive Falls on the Road at Army, 218-81

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Bucknell men's swimming & diving team wrapped up its first dual of 2024 on Saturday, falling 218-81 to the hosting Army Black Knights. Army, the 2023 Patriot League Championships runner-up, secured first-place finishes in 15 events to improve to 3-2 (2-1 PL). Bucknell had 14 finishes in the top three, including a win in the 100 butterfly, and moved to 4-3 (4-3 PL).
John Gehrig posted his 12th first-place finish of the season when he won the 100 butterfly on Saturday with a 49.49. The senior beat out Army's Jack Mowery (50.58) by more than a second, and teammate Chris Fabian was just behind that in third with a 50.68. Fabian and Gehrig currently rank first and second in the event, respectively, on Bucknell's all-time top 10 list.
Gehrig and Fabian both registered runner-up finishes as well. Gehrig placed second in the 200 butterfly with a 1:49.37, and Fabian took second in the 100 backstroke with a 51.19.
Jack Krug moved up the program's all-time top 10 list in the 1-meter dive, registering a 269.85 to leapfrog Garrett Sommer for ninth in the record book.
Justin DiSanto, Braden Beagle and Andy Dorsel finished top three in two events each. DiSanto went runner-up in the 100 freestyle, Beagle took second in the 200 backstroke and Dorsel went second in the 200 breaststroke.
Both of Bucknell's relay teams, the 200 medley and the 400 freestyle, came in third.
Bucknell turns around to host La Salle at Kinney Natatorium on Sunday, Jan. 14 at 1 p.m. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
