LEWISBURG, Pa.- Fresh after the best season in program history since 2003, Head Coach Tyler Hagstrom and Assistant Coach Haylie Clark were named to the Volleyball Mag's College Coaching Hotshots list. The two coaches received recognition for Bucknell's successful 2023 campaign.Â
Full Release
Clark entered her first year of collegiate coaching after her distinguished playing career for Elon University. She worked with the setters and developed Caleigh O'Connell into one of the Patriot League's best setters. O'Connell's season ended prematurely due to injury, but she remained fourth in assists per set (7.36) and still finished seventh in overall digs in Patriot League statistics. Laura Caro replaced O'Connell and, under Clark's tutelage, helped Bucknell in its run to the PL Tournament.Â
Hagstrom took over in 2020 and revitalized the program. The team has won 15 games in back-to-back years. Last season, the team finished second (its highest league ranking since 2003), hosted its first home Patriot League Tournament game since 2000, won its first PL Libero of the Year award, won its second-straight PL Rookie of the Year award, gained a PL First Team member for the first time since 2010, went 2-0 in a PL weekend for the first time since 2005, swept the weekly PL awards for the first time since 2000, and broke Colgate's 33-game home winning streak.Â
The Bison will return to action this fall, seeking to build upon the 2023 season.Â
