Two Bucknell Pairs Advance to Quarterfinals at Rick McClure Women's Tennis Invitational

BALTIMORE, Md. – Two Bucknell teams advanced in the championship bracket during the opening day of the Rick McClure Women's Tennis Invitational Friday. Madi Sebulsky and Jaycie Mair lost their doubles matchup by took both singles matches over their Lafayette opponents to reach the quarterfinals. Meanwhile, Whitney King and Abby Platt won by default to advance.
Results
Sebulsky won 3-6, 6-4, 10-8 over Lafayette's Mia Hernandez, and Mair defeated Alyssa Perdomo 6-7 (5), 6-3, 13-11 in a close match to secure their spot in the quarterfinals. The Bison pair dropped their quarterfinal doubles match 6-3 to Delaware State but still have the opportunity to advance to the semifinals by winning both singles matches Saturday.
Anna Lajos picked up a singles win in the first round, defeating Delaware State's Noelani Lui 7-6 (5), 7-5, but she and Tyne Miller fell in doubles and moved to the consolation quarterfinals. There the pair picked up a clean 6-0 doubles win over Lafayette's Alexandria Vollero and Dodd to wrap up play on Friday.
After advancing by default, King and Platt won 7-5 over Loyola's Jessica Bodewes and Emi Shivkumar to open quarterfinals doubles play.
Tori Allen and Kate Novak fell 6-3 in their consolation quarterfinals doubles match and will go for a sweep in singles on Saturday to advance.
Play is set to resume at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Rick McClure Tennis Center.
