HAMILTON, N.Y. – Freshman Alex Creamean fired a 2-under-par 70 on Sunday to help the Bucknell men's golf team to a solid fourth-place finish in a 13-team field at Colgate's Alex Lagowitz Memorial at Seven Oaks GC. Bucknell's six-man squad combined for 21 birdies in the final round on the way to an even-par 288 team score.
Scores were up across the field on Sunday, but the Bison and third-place Seton Hall (-1) were the only two teams to shoot even par or better in the third and final round. Yale posted a 1-over 289, but the Bulldogs had built up a comfortable cushion with two red numbers on Saturday, and their 853 total was good enough for a 17-shot win over runner-up Villanova. Seton Hall was third at 871, while Bucknell (876) and Lehigh (880) rounded out the top five. The Bison were the best of the five Patriot League teams in the field.
James Robbins closed with a 74 to finish at 3-over 219 for the weekend. He was the low Bison in 12th place on the individual leaderboard. Creamean's final-round 70, boosted by four birdies, moved him up to T-24th at 223 total, and fellow freshman Hayden Quinn followed in 26th at 224 total after closing with an even-par 72.
Lyman Bracket made a team-high five birdies on Sunday and also finished with a 72, while Jake Maddaloni shot 78 and Andres Barraza 80.
The Yale tandem of Blake Brantley and Will Lodge both led the field at 6-under 210 over 54 holes. Villanova's Peter Weaver was one shot back.
The Bison are back in action next Sunday and Monday at the Cornell Invitational, which will be played at Watchung Valley Country Club in New Jersey.
