Men's Water Polo Announces Latest Recruiting Class

LEWISBURG, Pa.- Head coach John McBride announced the Bucknell men's water polo recruiting class on Thursday. The group has three athletes: David Dumitru, Gregory Alexander Nordheim, and Sean Michael Tunnicliff.Â
Dumitru, a goalkeeper, hails from Bucharest, Romania. A bulwark in the net, he won the best goalkeeper award five times (2016, 2017, 2018, 2022, and 2023). He has earned around 20 selections to various Romanian Junior National Teams, has played in three Junior European Championships, and participated in one World Cup. Beyond his accomplishments, his teams have racked up the honors. Three times his teams have won the Junior National Championship (2018: U15, 2019: U17, and 2021: U19). His squad won second place in the 2023 Triumf Bucharest for the U19 category.Â
Nordheim, a center defender, comes to Bucknell from Boca Raton, Florida. A fearsome scorer, he totaled 115 goals during his senior year of competition. An accomplished aquatics athlete, he is heavily decorated in swimming and water polo honors. Nordheim served as the water polo team captain, won Academic All-American (2019-2022) for water polo, and was the state champion in the 200-meter free relay. He holds his school's 100-meter backstroke record.Â
He played for the San Diego Shores Water Polo Club, which notched second place at the Junior Olympics.Â
Tunnicliff, an attacker, journeys to Lewisburg from Long Beach, California. He won the 2022 Moore League Player of the Year. He also earned 2022 First Team All CIF-SS Division 1 honors. In 2019, he was named to the USA Development Team. A born aquatics athlete, he racked up eight letters in swimming and water polo. He owns the 2021 Second Leg of the 4x50 School Record. His team was the Moore League Champions from 2019-2022.Â
The men's water polo team returns to action this fall.Â
