LEWISBURG, Pa.- The Bucknell women's cross-country team released its 2023 fall schedule on Tuesday. The slate consists of four meets before the Patriot League Championships, followed by the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals and, if applicable, the NCAA Championships.
The season commences on Sept. 2 at the Harry Lang Invitational hosted by Colgate. The location will be used for the Patriot League Championships so the Bison will obtain familiarity before the climactic meet. The Bison last competed at the Harry Lang Invitational in 2019, finishing fourth.
The next meet is on Sept. 16 at the Robert Morris Invitational hosted by Robert Morris University. Bucknell has competed in Pittsburgh-based events over the past decades, but this will be the first meet presented by Robert Morris University that Bucknell will be attending.
On Sept. 30, the Bison will return to the old reliable on the schedule: the Paul Short Invitational hosted by Lehigh. Bucknell did not compete there in 2022 but finished 25th out of 38 teams in 2021. The NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals will be held there, so the Bison will again become experienced with a course before the postseason meet.
The ECAC/IC4A Championships will be held on Oct. 13. The championships will be in their typical rendezvous in the Bronx, New York. The Bison women finished 24th there in 2022.
The team will have two weeks for preparation before the Patriot League Championships are held on Oct. 28 at Colgate. The Bison are looking to improve upon their fifth-place finish in 2022. The league championship was last held in Colgate in 2019. Bucknell placed second that year.
Following the Patriot League Championships, the Bison have two weeks to refuel for the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals held at Lehigh on Nov. 10. The Orange & Blue obtained 12th last season in the event.
Hopefully relevant, the NCAA Championships will be held on Nov. 18 at the University of Virginia. The Bison women are seeking their first-ever NCAA Championships appearance. Â
