LEWISBURG, Pa.- The Bucknell men's cross-country team released its 2023 fall schedule on Tuesday. The slate consists of four meets before the Patriot League Championships, followed by the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals and, if applicable, the NCAA National Championships.
The season opens on Sept. 2 at the Harry Lang Invitational hosted by Colgate. The same course will be used for the Patriot League Championships so the Bison will obtain experience before the climactic meet. The Bison last competed at the Harry Lang Invitational in 2019.
The next meet is on Sept. 16Â at the Robert Morris Invitational, fittingly hosted by Robert Morris University. Bucknell has competed in Pittsburgh-based events over the past decades, but this will be the first meet hosted by Robert Morris University that Bucknell will be attending.
On Sept. 30, the Bison will return to the old reliable on the schedule: the Paul Short Invitational hosted by Lehigh. Bucknell did not compete there in 2022 but finished 22nd out of 40 teams in 2021. The NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals will be held there as, once again, the Bison will have prior experience with a course before the postseason meet.
The ECAC/IC4A Championships will be held on Oct. 13. The championships will take place in their traditional haunts of the Bronx, New York. The Bison men finished 21st there in 2022.
The team will have two weeks to rest and refuel before the Patriot League Championships on Oct. 28 at Colgate. The Bison are looking to improve upon their fourth-place finish in 2022. The league championship was last held in Colgate in 2019. Bucknell placed fifth that year.
Following the Patriot League Championships, the Bison have two weeks to recharge for the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals held at Lehigh on Nov. 10. The Orange & Blue obtained 12th last season in the event.
Hopefully applicable, the NCAA Championships will be held on Nov. 18 at the University of Virginia. The Bison last appeared in the NCAA Championships in 1991 and finished 13th.
