Four Women's Tennis Players Earn College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Honors

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Four Bucknell women's tennis student-athletes earned spots on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, which was announced Tuesday afternoon. Sophomores Whitney King, Anna Lajos, Caroline Marcus and junior Kate Novak were each recognized.
The CSC Academic All-District honorees now move on to the national Academic All-America ballot. In order to be eligible, candidates must have completed at least one full year at their current institution, they must have participated in at least 50 percent of their team's competitions, and they must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or better.
Novak, an economics major, served as a team captain this season and is a two-time member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll. She was one of three Bison to earn a stellar 4.0 GPA during the fall semester. The Mattawan, Mich. native was a regular starter at No 4/5 singles this year.
King, a markets, innovation & design major, also earned a 4.0 GPA in the fall and played most of the season at Bucknell's top singles spot. She went 12-7 in singles on the year and was part of the team's winningest doubles tandem, going 14-6 in the No. 1 position and 6-0 against Patriot League teams. King was named Patriot League Women's Tennis Player of the Week in April and was a 2022 member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
Lajos is majoring in international relations and pursuing a minor in political science. The sophomore led the team in overall singles wins this season at 17-15 and posted a 15-10 mark in doubles play. She helped clinch Bucknell's victory over Colgate in the Patriot League quarterfinal round with a win at No. 2 singles two weeks ago. Lajos was a 2022 member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
Marcus, a markets, innovation & design major, has maintained a 4.0 cumulative GPA throughout her time at Bucknell. She went 8-4 in singles play this season, including a 7-4 mark in duals, and she was a regular in the Bison doubles lineup at the No. 3 position. Marcus was also a 2022 member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
The Bucknell women's tennis team finished the season 13-13 (4-3 PL), achieving its highest win total since 2018-19.
