LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell's Andrew Stanzel was recognized on the 2023 Academic All-Patriot League Men's Lacrosse Team, which the league office revealed Thursday afternoon. The announcement comes just three days after the senior defenseman was named to the All-Patriot League Second Team.
Stanzel is graduating with a degree in economics and has achieved minors in both political science and history. He's one of 21 Bison men's lacrosse student-athletes with a cumulative grade-point average north of 3.50. The Dallas, Texas native is a three-time member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll and served as a team captain this season.
Stanzel has also been heavily involved on the Bucknell campus as a member of Bucknell's Finance Society, the Real Estate Club and the Fly Fishing Club.
During a strong senior campaign, Stanzel finished third in the Patriot League and ninth nationally with 2.08 caused turnovers per game. He also ranked second on the Bison roster with 35 ground balls and contributed one assist.
Stanzel started all 13 games this season, and he'll graduate with 31 career games played.
Boston U., Lehigh and Loyola each placed two student-athletes on the 2023 Academic All-Patriot League Team, while Bucknell and the rest of the teams had one each. Lehigh's Scott Cole, who was named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year, received Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors as well.
