"It is great to see two of our ladies qualify for the NCAA first round with the opportunity to make the finals in Austin," said head coach Kevin Donner. "It is even better that both are underclassmen who will be back next year and getting this NCAA experience is a tremendous setup for next year. Karen is one of the most versatile athletes that we have ever had. Her primary event for the past three years has been the 100-meter hurdles, where she ranks as one of our all-time best. She anchors our 4x100-meter relay that won the Patriot League and set a school record, and in the past month or so, she has established herself as a national caliber high jumper and school record holder. Right now, we are unsure what her ceiling on the high jump is, so it is exciting.
Brylee is a first-year student-athlete for us who was a solid high school javelin thrower who averaged in the 130s during her senior year of high school. She has been averaging in the 140s during her first year with us with a PR of 151-0, which got her into the NCAA. She has embraced the event and Coach Protzman's coaching, and we hope to see her have a long and productive collegiate career with consistent improvement."
The top 48 declared athletes in the East make the preliminaries. Tereksa had a sensational freshman season placing number 43 in the East with her 151-0 from the Bucknell Team Challenge and Hull, a junior, finished number 33 with her 5-9.25 jump from the ECAC Championships. Hull's mark won the event and set a Bucknell record for the high jump.Â
The Bison women last sent two athletes to the East Preliminaries in 2021 when Maura Fiamoncini (javelin) and Ashlyn Ramos (10k) made it. Fiamoncini won entry to the national finals and finished third there.Â
Tereska will compete in the javelin throw at 1:30 pm on Thursday, and Hull will challenge in the high jump at 2:30 pm on Saturday.Â
The top 12 from each event, along with the top 12 in each event from the west preliminaries, will qualify for the NCAA Finals June 7-10 in Austin, Texas.Â
The event will be streamed on ESPN+. The links are available in this article and on the Bucknell women's track & field schedule page.Â
