Richter Posts 72, One Shot off Lead at Navy Spring Invitational

RESULTS
ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Freshman Paige Richter posted her second even-par 72 of the spring season on Saturday and is one stroke off the lead at the Navy Spring Invitational. Bucknell compiled a 324 team score and is in sixth place with 18 holes remaining.
Richter birdied the first hole right out of the gates and rebounded from a bogey at 5 with birdies at 8 and 10 to get to 2-under on the day. She was still at -2 through 15 before a couple of bogeys at 16 and 17 knocked her back to even on the day.
Five of the 43 players in the field shot even-par or better in an opening round that was halted for about two hours due to rain. The Dartmouth tandem of Katherine Sung and Sophie Thai both carded 1-under 71s, and Richter was joined on the even line by Yale's Mia Sessa and Dartmouth's Claire Xu.
Bucknell's other counting scores were an 81 from Kelsey Yi, who aced the 17th hole in Friday's practice round, an 84 from Tara Thomas, and an 87 from Kayla Yi.
Dartmouth posted a 3-over 291 team tally and has a six-shot lead over Yale. Fairfield and Navy are tied for third at 312, followed by Youngstown State (319), Bucknell, and Wagner (327).
The final round gets underway with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
