About the Bison

Bucknell has one more tournament before the Patriot League Championship, the Navy Spring Invitational this weekend in Annapolis.
Paige Richter, Kelsey Yi, Kayla Yi, Tara Thomas, and Sahana Paravantavida will all be on the course at Navy this weekend.
Earlier this week, the Bison finished in seventh place at the St. John's Invitational at Saint Andrews GC just outside New York City. Morgan Sohosky shot 79-75 and was the low Bison in 20th place. Cristina Canales also had two rounds in the 70s (79-78) and finished T-23rd.
Richter leads the team with a 77.4 spring scoring average and a 77.0 mark over the full season.
Richter owns the team's low round of the spring, an even-par 72 in the final round of the SMSU Spring Classic at the Wigwam Resort in Arizona on March 14.
Sohosky (79.3) and Canales (79.8) also have sub-80 spring averages.
This is the 25th season for the Bison women's golf program, which debuted in 1998-99. Laura Tyler-Cook is the fourth head coach in team history, following Brad Tufts, Kevin Jamieson, and Lisa Francisco.

The Bison at the Navy Invitational

Bucknell has played in regular-season events hosted by Navy on six occasions, three times in the spring (2021, 2018, 2016) and twice in the fall (2022, 2021, 2016). In addition, The Bison have appeared in three Patriot League Championships hosted by the Mids, finishing fifth last season, fourth in 2018, and fifth in 2015.
Bucknell's best showing at a Navy Invitational came in the fall of 2016, when the Bison shot 325-321 and finished ninth in a field of 16 teams.
The best 18-hole score ever shot on the challenging USNA GC by a Bison player is a 74 from Sun Woo Jeon at last spring's Patriot League Championship. That was one better than Katie Childers's 75 at the 2018 conference tournament. Childers shot 79-75-82 that week and finished fifth to earn All-Patriot League honors.

Bucknell's best team score at Navy is a 311, recorded in the first round of the Navy Fall Invitational this past October. The Bison finished T-11th out of 15 teams at Navy's fall event, posting team scores of 311-335. Tara Thomas and Cristina Canales both shot 77 in the first round, followed by Viveka Kurup with a 78 and Paige Richter with a 79. Richter posted a 76 in round two and finished T-16th.

The 10th Patriot League Championship will be held on Apr. 21-23 at Independence GC in Midlothian, Va.
The Bison will be seeking their second league title and first since 2014.
