LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell women's tennis sophomore Anna Lajos was named Bison of the Week on Tuesday for her role in Saturday's 4-3 victory over Lehigh.
Lajos's dramatic three-set win over Lehigh junior Megha Dania clinched the match for the Bison, and she added a doubles win as well. With the victory, Bucknell moved ahead of Lehigh in the Patriot League standings.
Lajos, playing at No. 2 singles, fell behind with a loss in the opening set before battling back to a 7-6 (4) tiebreak win in the second. After forcing the extra frame, she then won 6-4 over Dania in the third to seal the Bison win. Dania entered the match as Lehigh's leader in singles wins. Lajos collected her 15th singles win of the season, which currently leads the team.
Earlier in the match, Lajos joined teammate Tyne Miller for a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles against Lehigh's Junmoke James and Allyce Gaborik. Lajos and Miller are 8-5 this season when playing as a tandem, and Lajos is 13-8 in doubles overall.
With three matches left in the regular season, Bucknell hits the road this weekend to face Army and Colgate. The Bison wrap up the regular season at home against Lafayette on Sunday, April 23.
