Keys Hits Grand Slam, but Baseball Falls at UMBC 9-5

Jacob Corson, Jacob Terwilliger, and Kyle Lyons all had two hits apiece for the Bison (15-17). Keys, who was named the Patriot League Player of the Week just a few hours earlier, hit his team-leading eighth home run of the season and now has 17 runs batted in over his last five games.
Sophomore lefthander Brady Swenson got the start in his first pitching appearance of the season, and he yielded just an unearned run on two hits while striking out two in three innings. He departed with a 4-1 lead, but the Retrievers (14-14) got the bats going in the middle innings.
Tony Krueger, who was 3-for-4 with four RBIs in the game, hit a two-run homer off Hadley Maxwell (0-2) in the bottom of the fourth to bring UMBC within 4-3. Billy Kender's two-out RBI single made it 5-3 in the top of the fifth, but the home side went ahead for good in the bottom of that frame. After a walk and a hit batsman to start the inning, Luke Trythall flipped the bat away thinking he had walked on a 3-0 pitch. He returned to the batter's box and hit the next pitch over the right-field wall for a three-run homer.
UMBC added three more in the seventh, and Connor Kelly held the Bison without a hit over the final two innings to close it out. Eddie Sargent (2-0) started for the Retrievers and allowed five runs on seven hits in five innings but picked up the win.
Bucknell wasted little time jumping out to the 4-0 lead. Anthony Sherwin walked to start the game, Corson followed with a single, and Grant Voytovich was hit by a pitch. Keys then hit a deep fly ball to the opposite field that carried out of the ballpark. It was Bucknell's second grand slam in seven days, as Voytovich did it last Tuesday in a win at Penn State.
