ANN ARBOR, Mich.- The Bucknell women's water polo dropped two games to ranked opponents on Sunday. The Bison lost 16-3 to #12 Michigan and 16-12 to #20 San Jose State.Â
Game One: #12 Michigan 16, Bucknell 3
Michigan scored 11 goals by halftime and coasted to the 16-3 victory. The Bison tallied all three of their goals in the first half. Schraa, Smith, and Monaghan each scored a singular goal for Bucknell.Â
The second half was quieter. The Bison had chances but could not penetrate the Wolverine net. Michigan cooled off but put five goals in the Bucknell net to prevent any comeback.Â
Game Two: #20 San Jose State 16, Bucknell 12
The Bison battled hard, but the Spartans prevailed by a four-goal margin. The first quarter witnessed little scoring as San Jose State went up 2-1. Both teams heated up in the second period as they combined for 11 goals. Unfortunately, the Spartans scored seven points to Bucknell's four to lead 9-5 at halftime.Â
