Baseball Downed by Boston College in First Game at Swig & Swine

Joe Vetrano's two-run homer of Bucknell starter Will Greer in the bottom of the first inning got the Eagles off to a fast start, and they added two more unearned runs in the third following a two-out error.
Corson's shot to straightaway center got the Bison on the board with one out in the fifth, but the game's pivotal blow was an opposite-field, three-run homer from 9-hole hitter Barry Walsh with two outs in the sixth.

Nikhil Patel escaped a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the seventh, before the Eagles added two more insurance runs in the eighth on a solo shot by Peter Burns and a two-out RBI single from Vetrano.
Boston College starter Henry Leake tossed three scoreless innings, and he and three relievers combined to limit the Bison to four hits. Bucknell did draw six walks but struck out 13 times.
The Eagles improved to 3-1 on the season after taking 2 of 3 at Pepperdine to open the season.
Billy Kender, Mason Kelly, and Jacob Terwilliger joined Corson in the hit column. Corson and Sean Keys each drew two walks. Greer went five innings and was charged with two earned runs on four hits. He got some help from his defense in the fourth inning, when Kender made a perfect relay throw to the plate to nail a runner trying to score from first on a ball hit into the right-center gap.
Bucknell is back in action at Shipyard Park on Saturday. The Bison take on Ball State at 4 p.m.
