LEWISBURG, Pa. — Bucknell sophomore attacker Boati Motau was named the Bison of the Week for her efforts over the weekend in Bucknell's three-game home stand at Kinney Natatorium.
The native of Johannesburg, South Africa, who totaled 13 goals last season, nearly matched that total in three games at the Bucknell Invitational by scoring ten times over the weekend. Motau set her career high on Saturday evening against Saint Francis (Pa.) scoring five times in the defeat, tied for the most by a Bison this season.
Motau followed up her career performance with another five-goal haul in the win over Villanova on Sunday, scoring all five of her tallies in the second half as Bucknell outlasted Villanova, 10-9. Motau converted all of her penalty shots in the second half on key exclusions by Bella Schraa, and also converted on a powerplay opportunity drawn by Izzy Lippolis. Motau's biggest penalty shot of them all came with 34 seconds left on the clock to break 9-9 tie and help Bucknell to its first home win this season. The lefty attacker is now up to 14 goals this season in total to surpass her 2022 season total.
Motau and the rest of the Bison squad will look to keep the momentum going when they travel to Erie, Pa. for the Curtis Robinette Memorial Invite for three games.
