"I was pleased with all the event areas, considering this is the first meet. It looks like we are well ahead of where we were one year ago. Now we have a gauge based on our fall training, and it will be critical for our athletes to maintain fitness and sharpness over the semester break."
Recap
Brandon Foust picked up where he left off in the 60-meter dash. The speedster moved into second place in Bucknell history with his time of 6.84 in the preliminaries. He finished second (6.86) in the finals and won IC4A qualification.
Foust duplicated IC4A qualification by running 21.92 in the 200-meter dash. His time earned another silver medal and eighth place in Bucknell history.
Ethan Wolford-Tuffy won gold in the 300-meter dash with a time of 35.00. The mark places him fifth in Bucknell history for the event.
Colby Belczyk finished first in the 500-meter run and earned an IC4A qualification. His time of 1:05.88 was nearly three seconds better than his nearest competition.
Peter Clifford clinched gold in the 3000-meter run. The Bison runner had the only time under nine minutes at 8:58.73.
Bucknell dominated the 800-meter run, placing four racers in the top 10. Zachary Jelinek led the charge, finishing second (1:57.62). Carter Boullard grabbed seventh (2:01.08), John Byrnes earned eighth (2:03.29), and John Flammer placed 10th (2:04.88). All four runners qualified for the IC4A.
Two Bison finished in the top three for the shot put. Wade Shomper grabbed silver on a heave of 53-06.25, and Robert Lerner obtained bronze (52-01.75). Both throwers earned IC4A qualification. Shomper's throw placed him 10th in Bucknell history.Â
Daniel Hilmer won bronze in the mile run with a time of 4:26.43.
Tommy Cahill grabbed bronze in the high jump with a leap of 6-02.75.
Lucas Williams made his collegiate debut in the pole vault with a clearance of 14-01.25. The mark earned him bronze.
Dariel Guzman won third place in the weight throw with a toss of 53-09.75.
Cooper Hyken finished fifth (6.92) in the 60-meter dash to clinch IC4A qualification. The time duplicates his personal best mark.
