Bucknell at a Glance
• The Bison set off for Madison, Wis. to take on another challenging opponent in Wisconsin. Bucknell enters the matchup 1-2 and coming off a strong showing at the Navy Classic.
• Bucknell's two losses were to No. 11 Oklahoma State and No. 14 Minnesota. The Bison claimed one bout in each of those matches. Bucknell's lone win was over Oklahoma Wesleyan on Nov. 11.
• Three Bison appeared in the latest Intermat/FloWrestling rankings this week: No. 21/20 Kurt Phipps (133), No. 31/33 Dylan Chappell, and No. 26/20 Noah Mulvaney (165).
• Mulvaney was named EIWA Wrestler of the Week on Nov. 7 after winning the 165 bracket at the Clarion Open.
• The Bison returned all three 2023 NCAA qualifiers: Chappell (149), Dorian Crosby (285) and Phipps (133). Chappell and Crosby were both automatic qualifiers, and Phipps was one of 47 wrestlers to receive an at-large bid to the NCAA Championships.
• Bucknell also returns four of its five EIWA placewinners from a season ago: Chappell, Crosby, Phipps and Nick Delp (157).
• Bucknell graduated six seniors in 2023, including 2021 NCAA qualifier and three-time EIWA placewinner Darren Miller as well as 2021 EIWA placewinners Mason McCready and Vincent Andreano.
• The Bison added 10 newcomers this season, and the group was dubbed the No. 19 recruiting class in the country by Intermat.
• Chappell, Crosby, Delp and Phipps are serving as team captains this season.
• Head coach Dan Wirnsberger is in his 18th season with the Bison and his 19th year leading the program since its revival in 2005. He ranks second all-time in program history in wins and is one shy of 150 career victories.
A Look Back at the Navy Classic
• Eight Bison finished as placewinners and Bucknell took fourth out of 14 teams at the 2023 Navy Classic on Nov. 18. Kurt Phipps won the 133 bracket by going 4-0 on the day. Phipps posted a win over 31st-ranked Jacob Van Dee of Nebraska en route to his title.
• Dylan Chappell (149) finished runner-up, Cade Wirnsberger (157) and Dorian Crosby (285) placed third, Nick Delp (157) and Noah Mulvaney (165) took fourth, and Myles Takats (174) and Mikey Bartush (184) both placed sixth.
• The Bison posted seven pins as a team in the tournament.
• Bucknell's 16 wrestlers went a combined 35-27 on the day.

• Wisconsin posted an 8-8 (1-7 Big Ten) record in 2022-23. It tied for 16th at the NCAA Championships and two Badgers earned spots on the podium, including returner Hamiti.
