Women’s Golf in Sixth After Round One at Lehigh Invitational

RESULTS

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – On a tough scoring day at Saucon Valley Country Club, the Bucknell women's golf team opened with a 322 tally and stands in sixth place out of 16 teams at the halfway mark of the Lehigh Invitational. Paige Richter led the Bison with a 77, followed by Cristina Canales with a 78.

Richter made four birdies on the day, including three in her last nine holes. Bucknell started the round on the 10th hole, and after going out in 41, Richter shot an even-par 36 on the course's front nine. Canales also finished strong with a 37 on her final nine, including a birdie at the par-5 4th hole.

Bucknell also counted an 82 from Katherine Vice and an 85 from Sofia Nogalo, which was only her second round in the 80s all season.

Howard leads the team standings after compiling an opening-round 308. Fairleigh Dickinson and Fairfield are tied for second at 311, followed by UAlbany at 313 and LIU at 315. Bucknell's 322 was the best of the three Patriot League teams in the field. Host Lehigh shot 325 and Holy Cross tallied a 334.

UAlbany's Mariel Tee and Fairfield's Julia Towne are the co-leaders after carding 1-over-par 73s. Marley Franklin of Howard is one shot back. Richter is T-11th, just one shot outside the top 10.

The Bison will go off the first tee in Tuesday's second and final round, alongside Mount St. Mary's and LIU. Their tee times range from 9:30-10:06 a.m.
