Sofia Nogalo Named Bison of the Week after Posting Third Top-10 Finish in Four Tournaments

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Sofia Nogalo, a first-year member of the women's golf team, earned Bison of the Week honors on Monday after posting her third top-10 finish in four starts over the weekend at the Navy Fall Invitational. Boosted by a 2-over-par 74 in the final round, Nogalo moved up into a tie for eighth place in a field of 88 players, and she helped the Bison climb from the middle of the pack into a tie for fourth place out of 15 teams.
Nogalo made back-to-back birdies late in her round on Sunday, and teammates Paige Richter and Nicole Yun also came up with late birdies to help the Bison move up to fourth, their best-ever showing at Navy's tournament. The final-round 310 was also the team's best at the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Course.
Nogalo's final-round 74 was the fifth-best card in the field on Sunday, and it lowered her season average to 75.3, the best on the squad. Earlier this fall, she placed T-3rd at the Bucknell Invitational and T-1st at the Roseann Schwartz Invitational.
Bucknell has one more fall event remaining, the Lehigh Invitational at Saucon Valley Country Club on Oct. 23-24.
