Women’s Golf Finishes Strong, Moves up to Fourth at Navy Fall Invitational

RESULTS
ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Late-round birdies from Sofia Nogalo, Paige Richter, and Nicole Yun helped the Bucknell women's golf team surge four spots up the standing into a fourth-place tie at the Navy Fall Invitational, which wrapped up Sunday at the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Course. Nogalo fired a 74 to post her third top-10 finish of the season, and the Bison closed with a 310 team tally, also fourth-best in the 15-team field.
Bucknell's 624 total over 36 holes tied Long Island for fourth place. Host Navy won the event with a 607 composite, followed by Towson at 613 and Howard at 620. William & Mary and Hofstra tied for sixth place, five shots behind Bucknell and LIU.
Nogalo, the reigning Patriot League Golfer of the Week had another strong weekend with a T-8th finish. After starting on the seventh hole on Sunday, she was 4-over after her first 10 holes but played the last eight in 2-under, highlighted by back-to-back birdies on Nos. 3 and 4.
Nogalo finished with a 153 total, which was seven shots behind medalist Mara Hirtle of Navy. Towson's Madison Barber finished one stroke back.
Yun birdied two of her last five holes on the way to a 76, and Richter birdied her 17th hole to finish with a 79. The Bison found themselves in eighth place as the final round moved to the back nine, but those late birdies helped them move up four rungs.
Bucknell has one more fall event remaining, the Lehigh Invitational at Saucon Valley Country Club on Oct. 23-24.
