Bucknell Rowing Team Hosts Georgetown Saturday in Fall Opener

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Looking to build on its outstanding performances last spring, the Bucknell rowing team kicks off its fall slate on Saturday against Patriot League rival Georgetown. Racing begins at 9 a.m. on the Susquehanna River in Shamokin Dam.
This is the first of five home duals this fall, and the Bison will also be competing at the Head of the Charles and the Head of the Schuylkill at the end of October. Bucknell's fall home competitions will look a bit different than the standard 2,000-meter races conducted in the spring championship season.
On Saturday, Bucknell and Georgetown will race 6,000 meters with a slight bend in the course. The teams will also make even boats, rather than the typical First, Second, and Third Eights. Thus the returning members of Bucknell's 2022 Patriot League champion Varsity Eight will be dispersed throughout the team's three entries against Georgetown. The team with the lowest cumulative time among its three boats will win the competition.
Following the Georgetown dual, Bucknell will welcome Lehigh, Columbia, and Cornell on each of the next three Saturdays. The Head of the Charles is set for Oct. 22, and the Bison will race at the Head of the Schuylkill on Oct. 29 before wrapping up the fall at home against Villanova on Nov. 5.
