LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell Bison athletes Laurel McHale '22 (women's lacrosse) and Jason Lohwater '22 (men's golf) recently attended the 2022 "NCAA Career in Sports Forum" at the NCAA headquarters in Indianapolis, Ind.
The annual event is an educational program that brings together 200 selected NCAA student-athletes to learn about and explore potential careers in sports. The unique three-day experience helps student-athletes chart their career paths. It gives student-athletes the chance to network with and learn from current athletics professionals.
The forum featured notable speakers that covered topics surrounding professional development, practical approaches to the sports job search, personal branding, and developing a career plan.
McHale recently completed her most productive season during her senior campaign with the women's lacrosse team, appearing in 15 games with 11 starts. She set career highs with 22 goals, 12 assists and 34 total points. McHale also led the Bison in points (18) as a junior while ranking second in both goals and assists.
The Bernardsville, N.J. native, who graduated in May with a degree in political science, finished her Bucknell career with 56 points on 35 career goals and 21 assists while helping the Orange & Blue to 16 victories over her four years.
Lohwater, who was a consistent fixture in the Bison men's golf lineup throughout his career, was twice named Patriot League Golfer of the Week this past spring while posting a 73.7 average to finish with a 74.0 full-season mark. He was second on the roster with a 74.3 average in the fall and played in all 11 events as a senior.
A native of Rochester, N.Y., Lohwater graduated with a degree in mathematical economics and was a member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll all four years.
