MIRAMAR, Fla. – Bucknell track & field's Rayven Sample was crowned a U.S. Paralympics National Champion on Friday, winning the T45-46-47 400m at the Ansin Sports Complex with a time of 52.29. It was the first of two races Sample is competing in at the championships this weekend.

Sample was up against Andreas Schulz of University High School, located in Orange City, Fla., who placed second with a 58.52.
"Nice run today for Rayven. He is coming off of an injury, so we wanted to play things conservative today and hope it was enough for the win. I think he had more in the tank today, but he executed a very fine race," said associate head coach Richard Alexander.
Sample's national honor comes less than a year after he placed eighth at the 2022 Paralympic Games in Tokyo while running for Team USA. He also scored points for the Bison at the 2022 Patriot League Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a seventh-place finish and competed at the 2022 IC4A Indoor Track & Field Championships in March.
The rising junior will run again on Saturday in the 100m. That race is scheduled for 5:50 p.m., and live results can be found at HalfMileTiming.com.
