Bucknell Men's Water Polo Announces Five Newcomers

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell men's water polo head coach John McBride has announced the addition of five newcomers for the upcoming 2022 fall season. Ian Shultz, Jack Murad, Aleksa Stefanovic, Maxime Touzot, and Mateo Herrera will each join the Orange and Blue for the upcoming season.

Bellevue, Wash./Newport
Before Bucknell: Four-year letterwinner in water polo and swimming at Newport High School under head coach Farrah Kunkel…team captain in 2021-22…set school record for goals in a single season with 148…also had second-most steals in a single season with 144, third-most assists with 84, and third-most exclusions drawn in a season with 54…named state defensive MVP…three-time First Team All-State selection…two-time team MVP…in swimming, was also named a team captain in 2021-22…qualified as a member of the 4x100 free relay at the state swim meet…helped water polo squad to fourth in the state in two seasons, before going on to help the squad to a runner-up finish in 2021-22…swim team finished top four in the state in three of his four seasons.
Personal: Ian Paul Deno Shultz…born on 12/15/2003 in Bellevue…has one brother, Cole, and one sister, Hailey…father Timothy played NAIA football at Western Washington.

Before Bucknell: Lettered in water polo at the Menlo School under Head Coach Jack Bowen…named team captain…WCAL First Team selection…Academic All-American and All-CCS Second Team selection…Helped team to PAL championship in 2018, and semifinal appearances in the CCS Open Division in 2018, 2019, and 2021…team finished second in the high school state championships in 2021…finished career with 92 goals, 48 assists, and 47 steals…member of Stanford Water Polo club…helped team to fourth in Junior Olympics in 2018.

Before Bucknell: Member of VK Partizan, VK Novi Beograd, and NBG Vukovi…won five titles and all cup and national titles while with VK Partizan…won 18U and 20U silver medals at the National Championships with VK Novi Beograd…at senior level, helped team to Serbian B League and A League titles, as well as second in the Super Liga…has played pro-level water polo since he was 16 years old…also spent time with Vukovi, a farm team for VK Novi Beograd, helping Vukovi to First Division title in 2021-22 season…Scored 27 goals and added 34 assists in 18 games that season.
Personal: Born on 10/6/2002 in Belgrade…father Djordje played hockey and soccer at Saint Mary's University of Minnesota.

Before Bucknell: Lettered two years in water polo at Greenwich…named First Team All-American at the Texas Junior Olympics and MVP at the Dubai Beach Tournament…leading goal scorer for club team at 2019 Junior Olympics…helped team to first place finish two years in a row in 2019 and 2020 at the Lebanese International Tournament.
Personal: Maxime Jean Sebastian Touzot…born on 3/25/2003 in Greenwich, Conn…has two siblings, Alex and Adrien…brother Adrien is a member of Bucknell's men's water polo team as a goalkeeper…helped found Mount Lebanon Aquatics in 2016 along with Adrien, helping team to win its debut in Lebanese competition, defeating some of the best teams in the country in the process.

Personal: Born on 1/31/2004 in Orlando…sisters Marcela and Manuela were both members of the Bucknell women's water polo program…also has one brother, Martin.
