LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell women's track & field senior Karly Forker was one of 10 athletes voted to the 2022 Women's Outdoor Academic All-Patriot League Team, the league announced Tuesday. It was Forker's second straight semester making the list.
Bucknell has had an Academic All-League honoree every outdoor season since the award was created in 2011, and Forker is the first Bison to earn the award during both indoors and outdoors since 2018.
Forker finished up an all-around great career with another strong outdoor season that included three all-time top 10 performances as well as points in multiple Patriot League championship events. In a span of two weeks at the end of April, Forker ran the sixth-fastest 800 (2:10.34), the fourth-fastest 1500 (4:27.68), and was part of the fastest distance medley relay (11:36.32) in program history.
The Landing, N.J. native went on to place fifth in the 1500 prelims before earning a bronze medal in the finals during the league championships in early May. She also ran the fourth leg of the Bison's 4x800 that placed fifth at the meet. She was one of 19 Bison that competed at the 2022 Outdoor IC4A Track & Field Championships as well.
Prior to this season, Forker had set the school record for the outdoor mile and ran the second-fastest indoor mile during her time at Bucknell.
Forker has had just as strong an academic career while in Lewisburg, maintaining a near-perfect 3.95 grade-point average as a biology and biochemistry major while serving as a research assistant, a study group leader and a teaching assistant. A rare two-year team captain, Forker received Bucknell's 2022 Alvin F. Jackson Memorial Scholar-Athlete Award in April for outstanding athletic & academic achievement.
To be eligible for the Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and the Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and be a starter or key player in his/her sport. Freshmen or students in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor.
