Feeney Named to Men's Outdoor Track & Field Academic All-PL Team

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell men's track & field's Robert Feeney was one of 11 student-athletes voted to the Academic All-Patriot League Team, the league office announced on Tuesday. Feeney is Bucknell's first outdoor honoree since 2019 and is one of only two sophomores to make the cut.
Feeney's academic recognition comes at the end of a breakout season for the sophomore, who scored in the hammer throw at both the outdoor Patriot League championships and the IC4A championships. He also climbed Bucknell's all-time top 10 list as one of the top field athletes on the roster.
As an economics major, Feeney maintains a 3.97 grade-point average and is involved in a number of campus activities outside of athletics, including the Bucknellian student newspaper, the Bison Finance Society and the Bison Cares community service organization. He earned a spot on the 2021 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll as well.
Feeney shined in the hammer this spring, earning sixth at the league championships (183-8), fifth at the IC4A championships (184-0), and first at the Maroon and Gold Invite in April. His first-place mark of 185-4 at the Bloomsburg meet ranks eighth on Bucknell's all-time top 10 performances list.
During the indoor season, Feeney scored in both the Patriot League and IC4A meets as well and posted the eighth-best weight throw in program history.
To be eligible for the Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and the Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and be a starter or key player in his/her sport. Freshmen or students in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor.
