WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Bucknell men's track & field team completed the third and final day of the IC4A championships on Sunday and saw several strong performances in sprinting events. The Bison ended up with 10 points overall and finished 26th. Army won the meet with 81 points.
Among those setting new season or career bests was Matthew Perello, who placed 19th in the 200 with a 21.98. First-year Brandon Foust wasn't far behind, running a personal-best 22.22 to finish 21st. Also setting a new career best was Max Spaulding in the 400 hurdles. His 56.20 placed him 13th at the meet.
Bucknell's 4x400 team (Aiden Brewer, Perello, Spaulding, Ethan Wolford-Tuffy) ran a 3:19.81 to take eighth, and it was the team's fastest time this spring. In its other relay, Bucknell's 4x800 team (Thomas Matsumura, Samuel Whittaker, Alex Simpson, Colby Belczyk) placed 11th with a 7:41.83.
Also notable was a career-best 45-9.75 by senior Jaden Rouse in the triple jump, as well as a 48.76 in the 400 by Wolford-Tuffy to take 15th.
"I thought our sprinters had a great day three. Perello ran under 22 in the 200 and Foust was close. Our 4x400 ran a season-best time and placed 8th. Rouse ended his Bucknell career with a nice PR in the triple jump," said head coach Kevin Donner. "Our men ended the season on a high note over the past 3-4 weeks, and if we can keep the athletes healthier in 2023 along with a few recruits who we believe are difference makers, I see great things coming in the near future."
