Women's Tennis Falls to Loyola in PL Quarterfinals

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Bucknell women's tennis team was topped by Loyola, 4-2, in the Patriot League Championship quarterfinals on Friday at Lehigh's Ulrich Varsity Tennis Courts.
The fifth-seeded Bison (12-10, 3-3 PL) wrapped up their 2021-22 campaign with their loss to the fourth-seeded Greyhounds (13-5-1, 3-3 PL). Bucknell earned the doubles point, and senior captain Daniela Bellini concluded her Bison career with a three-set victory on the top singles court.
Bellini, who went an unbeaten 6-0 in Patriot League dual match action this season, earned a hard-fought 6-2, 4-6, 7-5 decision over Olivia Tracey. The triumph was the 50th of her collegiate career, placing her in a tie for 16th in the Bucknell annals. Notably, she has competed at first singles for her entire time in Lewisburg.
Bellini also teamed with first-year partner Whitney King for a 6-3 victory over Tracey and Anna Rico at first doubles. They wrapped up their season with a sterling 22-5 record on the top doubles court; their 22 wins gave them the 10th spot in the program's single-season listing.
Over the course of her career, Bellini won a total of 55 doubles matches, a total good for 11th in school history. With 105 career combined victories, she is one of 17 Bison to eclipse the century mark.
Against Loyola, Tyne Miller and Laurel Utterback were 6-4 victors over Lauren Manwiller and Jessica Bodewes at second doubles. King's third singles match was left unfinished with her up, 4-2, in what would have been the decisive third set.
