LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell football team's annual Spring Game will be held on Sunday at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium at the Pascucci Family Athletics Complex.
"It has been a very competitive and productive spring thus far," said head coach Dave Cecchini. "I'm excited to watch the team compete in a live setting with officials. Sunday's Spring Game is an outstanding opportunity for our players to showcase their improvement in front of a crowd of Bucknell football supporters."Â
The game is scheduled to begin at noon and will pit the Bison's offense against their defense. This is the second-to-last time Bucknell will take the football field this spring; the Bison's spring schedule concludes with a night practice on Tuesday, April 26.
The game is open to the public and free of charge. It will consist of three scored sessions: a move-the-ball scrimmage, a red-zone scrimmage and a 4th-down challenge. After each of these sessions, the winning side will be awarded a point.
At approximately the game's halfway mark, Cecchini will announce Bucknell's 2022 captains, as voted by their peers.
The Bison are entering their fourth season under Cecchini's watch. During the 2021 spring campaign, he was voted as the Patriot League Dick Biddle Coach of the Year for leading them to a spot in the first-ever Patriot League Championship Game. Bucknell placed 11 on that season's All-Patriot League Team, headlined by a school-record seven First Team selections. The Bison return All-Patriot League performers Gavin Pringle and Eric Holsinger, as well as 2021 Team MVP Brent Jackson, in 2022. They also bring back all but four of their starters from a season ago.
