BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Bucknell's Daniela Bellini captured her second-straight Patriot League Tennis Player of the Week award, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
For the second week in a row, the senior captain posted a 2-0 record at both first singles and first doubles. She moved to 5-0 in Patriot League singles action and 21-3 overall with first-year doubles partner Whitney King.
During the Bison's 4-3 victory over Lafayette, Bellini defeated Olivia Boeckman, 7-5, 6-0, and teamed with King for a 6-2 decision over Boeckman and Maureen McCormack. Against Loyola, she topped Olivia Tracey, 6-2, 6-2, and scored a 6-3 victory over Tracey and Anna Rico with King.
This is Bellini's third career Patriot League Tennis Player of the Week nod. Last week, she was honored for going 2-0 at both first singles and first doubles to help the Bucknell women's tennis team secure commanding victories over rival Lehigh (6-1) and Colgate (4-0). She was also recognized on March 5, 2019 for helping the Bison vault to 8-0 in dual match competition with a 6-1 victory over Colgate. During that match, she defeated All-Patriot League selection MacKenzie Deeter, 7-5, 6-1, on the top singles court and teamed with Sofia Ayuso for a 5-2 decision at second doubles.
Bellini is one of two Bison to garner Patriot League Tennis Player of the Week laurels this season. King earned this award on Feb. 15 for her performance during Bucknell's 2-0 weekend against Seton Hall (4-2) and Marist (5-0).
Bellini and the Bison close the regular season with a home match against Army West Point (April 16 at 12 p.m.) and an away contest at Towson (April 17 at 1 p.m.). She will be recognized before Bucknell's match with the Black Knights at 10 a.m.
