BOSTON, Mass. – Bucknell men's track & field completed the second day of the IC4A Indoor Championships on Saturday and saw a pair of athletes score in field events, while rookie Colby Belczyk made a dent in Bucknell's top 10 list in the 800.
Bucknell sits tied for 20th at the meet with three points and is just behind fellow Patriot League team Holy Cross (4).
"We got some points from Perinotti in the pole vault and Feeney in the weight throw. Those two earning All-East is a great honor for them," said head coach Kevin Donner. "Although we didn't advance any of the guys to the finals, Belczyk ran incredible in the 800 with our fourth-fastest time in school history, and Santos just missed out on an all-time top 10 in the 5000. Our all-time top 10 list is a 'who's who' of the history of our distance program, and to come close as a freshman is outstanding. Overall, it was a solid day for our men."
Franco Perinotti's 15-5 in the pole vault earned Bucknell a pair of points as the seventh-best mark at the meet. It comes just a week after the senior scored for the Bison in the heptathlon at the Patriot League Championships.
Sophomore Robert Feeney also scored for a second straight week, taking eighth place in the weight throw with a 56-5 in his first IC4A experience. Feeney was seventh in the event at the league championships last week and ranks eighth on Bucknell's top 10 list.
Belczyk, who has been impressive from the rookie class all season, entered Bucknell's record books with a blazing 1:51.40 in the 800. He was just over a second off from the school record to land fourth on the top 10 list, and his time was good enough for 15th at the meet.
Ben Santos, another freshman, ran a 14:28.62 in the 5000 to finish 16th. He was just outside the number 10 spot (14:27.87) on the school's all-time list, and the time was nearly 22 seconds faster than his previous best set at the Patriot League Championships last weekend.
Bucknell's Kameron Schreffler advanced past the prelims in the 60m hurdles (16th, 8.57) but did not make it past the semis.
Aiden Brewer completed the heptathlon on Saturday, tying for first in the pole vault (13-3.75) and winning the 1000 with a personal-best 2:37.03. He placed ninth at the meet with 4,225 points.
The IC4A meet wraps up on Sunday with field events beginning at 9:30 a.m.
