Greer, Sherwin Garner Weekly Honors

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Anthony Sherwin and Will Greer each earned weekly honors from the Bucknell athletic department and the Patriot League, respectively, as Bucknell went 3-1 over the weekend in its conference-opening series against Navy.
Sherwin was named the Bison Athlete of the Week for his efforts, the baseball program's first honoree since Chris Cannizzaro earned the honor to end the season on May 9, 2021. Greer was named the Patriot League Pitcher of the Week, Bucknell's first Patriot League Pitcher of the Week award since current teammate Chris DiFiore earned the honor on April 13, 2021.
Sherwin posted a big weekend to open Patriot League play, going 12-for-18 at the plate with five runs scored, two doubles, a triple, and five RBIs. The sophomore from Harrison City, Pa. slugged .889, and posted an impressive on-base percentage of .684. Sherwin won the Patriot League Rookie of the Week award last season after the series against Navy, driving in eight runs and scoring six while hitting .333. Sherwin's four hits in the series opener were a career high, and he leads the team with six multiple-hit games.
In the Patriot League, Sherwin ranks second in average (.375), fourth in slugging percentage (.547), third in on-base percentage (.467), and fourth in overall hits (24).
Greer continued his impressive start to the season, throwing a season-high eight shutout innings in Bucknell's 12-2 win over Navy in the series opener. Greer posted his third appearance with one run or fewer allowed of at least seven innings, only walking one batter in the process. Greer retired 12 straight Navy batters in one stretch of Friday's game, and he ranks second in the Patriot League in ERA (2.88), opposing batting average (.198), and is first in innings pitched (34.1). Greer has posted two wins for the Bison pitching staff this season (2-0) along with teammate Austin Odell, and carried a 0.86 ERA through his first 15 innings to open the season.
Bucknell will have a quick turnaround, taking on Saint Joseph's on Tuesday afternoon at Depew Field at 3 p.m. before hosting Army and Holy Cross this weekend for a pair of home doubleheaders.
