Women's Golf Improves in Round Two at Jackrabbit Invitational

BOULDER CITY, Nev. – Tara Thomas carded Bucknell's low score of the day with a 5-over-par 77 in the second round, and the Bison posted team totals of 333 and 323 on Monday at the Jackrabbit Invitational at Boulder Creek GC. Bucknell is in 15th place entering Tuesday's third and final round.

All five Bucknell players are separated by just six strokes through 36 holes. Sahana Paravantavida is the low Bison after shooting 80-82 for a total of 162. Thomas rebounded nicely after opening with 87, and she is two shots behind her teammate at 164.

Tatum McKelvey shot 82-84, Sun Woo Jeon had a birdie-birdie finish in the afternoon and posted 85-82, and Cristina Canales tallied 86-82. Kayla Yi, playing as an individual, shot 87-84.

Rutgers moved atop the team leaderboard thanks to an 8-under 280 in round two. The Scarlet Knights have a 577 total through 36, which is two strokes better than tournament host and defending champion South Dakota State. Middle Tennessee State is third at 581, followed by Little Rock (587), Oklahoma City (590), and Missouri State (590).

After no rounds in the 60s were posted in the morning, four players did so in the afternoon, led by a 6-under 66 from Rutgers' Anna-Maria Diederichs. She is 6-under for the tournament and has a four-shot lead over Hester Sicking of South Dakota State. Five others are tied for third at even par.

The final round gets underway Tuesday with an 11 a.m. Eastern shotgun start. Â Â
