The Bison complete a 2-0 weekend
NEW WINDSOR, N.Y. – The Bucknell women's tennis team blanked Marist, 5-0, on Sunday afternoon at Sportsplex New Windsor.
The Bison (4-1, 0-0 PL) completed a 2-0 weekend behind their whitewashing of the Red Foxes (0-2, 0-0 MAAC). As in Saturday's 4-2 victory over Seton Hall, the match was played in a clinch for singles format.
Every Bucknell singles player who completed her match won in straight sets. On the second court, Whitney King moved to 12-2 on the season with her 6-1, 6-1 triumph over Vanessa Ciano.
At third singles, Tyne Miller dispatched Ellen Zureick, 6-3, 6-0. Laurel Utterback returned to the win column with a 6-2, 6-0 decision over Lea Lambert in the fourth spot.
Like King, Anna Lajos continued her strong start to her rookie campaign. With her 6-2, 6-1 victory over Andriana Zaphiris, she improved to 9-1 overall.
The Bison also swept the doubles matches, with King teaming with Daniela Bellini for a 6-0 whitewashing of Ciano and Lea Lambert on the first court. The duo now boasts an impressive 13-1 record in 2021-22.
Bucknell next plays two in Latham, N.Y., facing Bryant at 2:45 p.m. on Feb. 19 and Siena at 12 p.m. on Feb. 20.
