Zach Hartman also makes second NCAA Coaches' Panel Rankings
LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell's Kolby DePron, Zach Hartman and Brandon Seidman appeared in the first NCAA Ratings Percentage Index (RPI), which is used in the selection process to determine the qualifiers for the 2022 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships.
In addition, Hartman made the second NCAA Coaches' Panel Rankings. The two-time All-American and defending EIWA champion checked in at 17th in the 165-pound weight class. He has now appeared in all 13 of the NCAA Coaches' Panel Rankings compiled during his time in Lewisburg to date.
In the RPI, Hartman was slotted 14th. DePron (149) and Seidman (125) each checked in at 26th in his respective weight class.
Hartman, a senior captain, boasts a 21-3 (13-1 dual) record. He leads the Bison in pins (7) and technical falls (3); he also shares the team lead in dual victories with sophomore Kurt Phipps (133) and ranks second to DePron in overall wins and to Phipps in EIWA wins (7). His career record stands at 88-23 (43-6 dual); his 26 career pins are good for eighth in the Bucknell annals.
DePron, a freshman, owns a 22-9 (10-4 dual) record. He is the team leader in overall wins and is tied for second among Bison in pins (6) with fellow freshman Logan Deacetis (184). Notably, he placed third at three different tournaments: Nov. 7's Clarion Open, Nov. 14's Jonathan Kaloust Bearcat Open and Nov. 20's Navy Classic.
Seidman, a senior captain, is currently 16-10 (11-5 dual). In EIWA action, he has gone a sterling 7-2; since the calendar turned to 2022, he has posted an 8-2 record, running together a five-bout winning streak during that stretch. Seidman, like Hartman, is one of eight former EIWA placewinners on Bucknell's 2021-22 roster.
Wrestlers in each weight class are measured by winning percentage, rating percentage index (RPI) and coaches' rankings to earn spots in their qualifying tournaments for the 2022 NCAA Championships, slated for March 17-19 at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Mich. The coaches' rankings are determined by a vote of 14 coaches in each weight class with two head coaches from each conference. For ranking purposes, coaches may only consider a wrestler that has been designated as a starter at a respective weight class. For the first ranking, wrestlers must have two Division I matches in the weight class to be considered with at least one within the last 30 days.
