Men's Track & Field Wraps Up First Day of VMI Invitational

LEXINGTON, Va. – Bucknell men's track & field opened the VMI Winter Classic on Friday and saw several top finishes and an addition to program's all-time top 10 list.
Schools in Attendance: Bucknell, Catawba, Davis & Elkins, ETSU, Gardner-Webb, George Mason, George Washington, Lincoln Memorial, Loyola (MD.), Mansfield, Mary Balwin, Mount Olive, Shenandoah, Shippensburg, Tusculum, Ursinus, VMI, Washington & Lee, Western Carolina, Wofford.
First Day Results
"It was a solid day one where some events went outstanding, but other events struggled. Our hurdlers really came to play, as we have three in the finals. I was pleased to see two triple jumpers in the finals and two weight throwers in the finals.Wolford-Tuffy continues to run great with an all-time top 10 run in the 400," said head coach Kevin Donner.
Rookie Brian Scotto, who has been fantastic in the 60m hurdles this season, earned another top finish in the semifinals on Friday with an 8.29. He'll head to the finals during Saturday's portion of the meet. Scotto already ranks fifth on Bucknell's top 10 list in the event with a personal best of 8.21.
Jack Memoli (8.54) and Kameron Schreffler (8.57) also advanced out of the 60m hurdle semis.
Ethan Wolford-Tuffy placed seventh in the 400 (48.91), landing ninth on Bucknell's all-time top 10. He's just the second athlete to crack the 400 list since 2018.
In the 5000, Ryan Miele (15:27.13) and Noah Martin (15:28.91) placed seventh and eighth, respectively. Matthew Cervon (15:43.07) finished 10th. Seth Hoffritz (2:37.61) took eighth in the 1000, and Aiden Brewer (2:40.12) wound up 11th.
Lastly, Robert Feeney highlighted the field events with a fifth-place mark in the weight throw, clearing 55-5.5. Teammate John Calisi cleared 52-2 to finish ninth. Chris Sims recorded a 44-8 in the triple jump, followed by Ian Lawrence's 44-3.25.
Events continue at VMI on Saturday with the mile beginning at 10 a.m.
