Negrete Holds Onto Third Place after Day One of the Bison Opener

Day One Results
LEWISBURG, Pa.- The men's track and field squad for Bucknell opened the 2022-2023 indoor season tonight at the Bison Opener.
The single event held on Day One was the heptathlon and four of its seven competitions were completed with the remaining three to be performed tomorrow.
Miguel Negrete holds third place with a score of 2525. Negrete is 135 points away from first place and a mere 62 points from the second-place holder.
Negrete obtained third place thanks to his strong showing in the shot put (37-04.00) and 60m dash (7.38) both of which earned the Bison athlete silver.
It's been awhile since Miguel has done a heptathlon due to his injuries from last year and I thought he had a solid day one. He is a strong pole vaulter which should help him on Saturday. A top 2 finish is very attainable," said head coach Kevin Donner.Â
The Bison Opener resumes tomorrow morning at 10:30am with the Men's long jump. Be sure to turn out at Gerhard Fieldhouse to cheer on your Bison!
